• Initial project briefing and definition
  • Measured property surveys to produce floor plans and elevations

In Phase One, you can expect fairly wide-ranging discussions and ideas formulation. The aim at this stage is to encourage as much detailed thought as possible about the scope and aims of the long term project so that we can move on to Phase 2 with a concrete and well considered “wish list” and therefore a definitive brief.

At this stage, Design Specifics Ltd always carry out a measured survey of any existing property so that there are accurate plans and elevations for moving forward. These will also be used in any planning or listed building consent applications.

(Below is an example a measured survey of a Grade II listed farmhouse in Surrey)

Following the definition of the project and the measured survey, we then work on the initial design phase. Design Specifics Ltd work up design ideas/concepts with our clients to arrive at a preferred option. This will not be a detailed design package at this stage, but will give definition to the scale, design and overall scope of the project. We will then do the necessary work to be able to put the proposal forward for planning.
